A Vengeful Punitive God????

Bob Marshall (House of Delegates, VA) is an idiot. Here is his statement "“The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children,” said Marshall, a Republican.


What about all the disabled children who's mothers never had an abortion????

Let me think about this A) God is a vengeful punitive being that inflicts suffering on innocent children - probably not B) God chooses these special children to give to special mothers - possibly C) God has NOTHING to do with it - most likely.

Forgive me, but I don't see this as a Pat Robertson moment. How does "nature takes its vengeance" turn into 'the wrath of God' in your understanding? Was there more to this quote that I am missing?

My understanding of Marshall's comment from the above is that a procedure which is harmful to the mother's body is going to have natural consequences for subsequent children.

Are you aware of the methods by which abortions are done? I haven't looked into the stats, but it has long been known that abortion can jeopardize a woman's ability to carry future pregnancies to term.

It certainly seems plausible that a procedure that does such violence within the body of a woman would have an increased likelihood of leaving damage & scarring that could negatively impact her future children.

At any rate, I am otherwise enjoying perusing your articles - nice blog!
